It is my privilege to serve as the President of the Board of Trustees of SDJA. Our board is made up of parents of SDJA students, alumni, and community members who feel passionately about the school and enthusiastically give of themselves in so many ways to nurture and sustain SDJA, now and into the future.
Following each of our board meetings, I will share some information from the Board meeting, in order to share some of the discussions we are having with the senior leadership team (Chaim Heller, Mike Quigley, Kelley King, Skip Carpowich, Rachelle Jagolinzer, Rabbi Phil Graubart, and Keri Copans).
October 19, Rabbi Graubart shared with us the progress he has made in the ongoing development of the Advanced Institute for Judaic Studies. He has hit-the-ground-running, thinking about all of the many affective ways Jewish life can be learned, lived, and loved by our students. There are some very exciting offerings coming up for parents and students to study with Rabbi Graubart, so watch for details.
SDJA has been awarded a grant from the Department of Homeland Security for $75,000 to continue our upgrades in security systems used campus wide.
Mark your calendars for the Meet the Board Breakfast, on Thursday morning, November 9 @ 8:30 am right after drop off. Everyone is invited to hear about the workings of the Board, meet members and committee chairs, and understand how governance works. Not only is this an opportunity for you to find out more about our Board of Trustees and the work that we do on your behalf, it’s also a chance for you to learn about volunteer committee and board efforts of which you can be a part. If you are interested in volunteer leadership, we strongly encourage you to join us!
I look forward to seeing many of you at Grandparents and Special Visitors Day (10/27/17).
Rabbi Yael Ridberg
