10th and 11th grade – UCSD Challenge Course

The 10th and 11th grade classes participated in the UCSD Challenge Course. This outdoor classroom includes lessons that teach students how to empower themselves to overcome fears and challenges. Through ground based team challenges and high ropes courses, students must emotionally and physically support each other in order to get through each activity. When you are 40 feet off the ground, you see a lot of “insta-bonding” among the participants. The students showed a lot of courage by jumping right into the various challenges. Students that don’t usually hang out were developing friendships, some learned how to communicate in order to better work as a team, and all the students had to creatively solve problems in the moment. The SDJA students walked away from this experience with new confidence, stronger relationships, and sense of connection. Here is a link to pictures and a few video clips:  2019 Fall Challenge Course
