For the first time in the history of SDJA, our 8th grade class traveled to Israel as part of the Alexander Muss High School in Israel (AMHSI) Israel Education Program. Spending two weeks in Israel learning, bonding as a class, and having fun; the 8th grade immersed themselves in an extraordinary experience guaranteed to inform their thinking on Israel and the opportunities for further connections during their high school years at SDJA.
Accompanied by Yvonne Weber, Lily Deveau,Reese McCaskil, and the educational team from AMHSI, the group experienced Israel from Masada to Jerusalem, and Tel Aviv to Tel Maresha. The students practiced their Hebrew at the Mahane Yehudah Market and completed a Tikkun Olam project at Pantry Packers in Jerusalem.
The experience was packed full of activities and we look forward to seeing and hearing how the class grows from their excursion.
