As part of the science experience at SDJA, MUS students have been working on LionScience projects all year long. LionScience is modeled after Google’s 20% time program, where Google engineers spend one day each week working on a project that interests them and is not their actual job.
At SDJA, science teachers allocate a small portion of class time throughout the year to allow students to choose a science topic and engage in research to learn more about it. This is an ungraded project designed to allow students to pursue their passion. As the culmination of the LionScience project in Dr. Eisen’s Chemistry classes, students built models or prototypes based on their research.
