Scoop From The Coop This week’s edition was written by Hannah Gutman, 5th grader
Did you hear about the chicken who could only lay eggs in the winter? She was no spring chicken!
Welcome back to another Scoop From The Coop! Our business, Got Eggs? has changed again as we continue to expand and care for the chickens. Some things that have changed in our business over the last few weeks are…
Fifth graders are now solely the “handlers” of the chickens and the ones in charge of selling the eggs. This means every Friday the three assigned handlers wash all the eggs and then sell them at pick-up. We usually have about two dozen eggs a week and usually run out in roughly five minutes.
The Garden Staff feed the chickens, clean the cage, and change the water. These used to be the jobs of us fifth graders, but it was decided this was a better business model.
We now sell eggs to all SDJA families rather than just the fifth-grade families. So look for us at pickup or order them online using the following link: https://goo.gl/forms/sOoZzxlOXtRCdsU62
Another new and exciting change is that we are bringing in an investor to help us expand the chicken business. We are hoping that by bringing in an investor we will be able to build a bigger coop and get more chickens. Wish us luck!
