Kindness Committee Update By Sarah Datnow, 5th grader
“No act of kindness, no matter how small is ever wasted.” – Aesop
In the past few weeks, the Kindness Committee has been figuring out how to make the SDJA campus a “No Place For Hate.” We meet every Friday at lunch. We collaborate and share our ideas in hopes of finding a new idea to spread kindness amongst SDJA. We hope to start spreading kindness to not only our school, but to other places too.
Last school year, our school created an organization called Lake of Love, in memory of Agam Levy. We created a clothing, toy, school supplies and book drive. Afterwards, we worked with Palomar Counseling Center, which is a place for people who need therapy but cannot afford to go. Eventually, Kindness Committee got to take a field trip there and take a tour of the building.
Every morning, we have one or two of our members stand by the drop off area to greet people who come to school because it’s always good to start off the day in a good mood! In addition to that, we have a chalk board with encouraging messages and sayings. We are working hard to get a bigger message board that is even more visible, so everyone can see it easily!
And to sum it all up, we are working hard to try and spread kindness amongst our schoolmates. And we will continue to do so throughout the year.

In Kinder-2nd grade, each guidance lesson begins with a Mindful […]
