In the coming week (February 5 – 8), Mrs. King will be serving on a school accreditation team for the Children’s Day School in San Francisco CA. As part of a team consisting of experienced faculty and administrators from other independent schools across the state, Mrs. King will participate in a process of evaluating the school according to national and state standards for independent schools. Over the course of the four days at Children’s Day School, the accreditation team will meet with and interview a variety of stakeholders and observe in classrooms and around campus. Based on the school’s year-long self-study report and the findings during the on-site visit, an accreditation report is written by the team which highlights the school’s strengths and actions for improvement, and will determine the school’s accreditation status.
While this accreditation work takes Mrs. King off of our campus next week, serving on school accreditation teams benefits our own school in several ways, including allowing us to learn from other school’s best practices and challenges. During the upcoming 2018-2019 school year, SDJA embarks on its own school accreditation renewal process and the accreditation team experience also serves as excellent preparation for that.
