Egg-cellent Egg-ventures: This week’s edition by Drew Hansen & Sam Land
The chicken coop is ready and we’re just waiting for our special guests to arrive! The chickens are due to arrive next Friday! We are egg-static and anxiously awaiting their arrival! In the meantime, we are making preparations including creating a list of the materials we will need. Epic Eggs will be collecting the following:
Egg cartons: we need cartons to store and sell the eggs. Eggs will be distributed once a week and we need a lot of egg cartons in order to do this.
Large Rocks: we will be collecting large rocks to protect the chickens from anything that will harm them. Our plan is to place these large rocks around the bottom of the coop to protect them from predators.
If you have any of these materials that you could donate, please send them to school. We will be collecting these items in the 5th grade classrooms (D201 and D202). The fifth graders will have a labeled box outside the classrooms to collect these items. We are egg-stremely thankful for your help and donations!
We just ordered a chicken and an egg off the internet, to see which one comes first… we’ll keep you posted.

The Orton-Gillingham training, which ten teachers on staff received two […]
An old saying is “There’s more than one way to skin a cat.” What is meant by this is that for any problem, there’s a host of solutions. Some may be more efficient, some ridiculously time consuming, but they are still solutions. This is true when it comes to skinning cats, saving astronauts in peril, […]
Like every Jewish holiday, there’s more to Purim than meets the eye. What appears to be a simple story is layered with complexity. The happy ending is darker than we might suppose. And our joyous customs – costumes, noisemakers, hamantaschen, gifts – symbolize relief as much as joy. On the one hand, the Purim story […]
This week, SDJA celebrated Israel week. Having a strong commitment to Israel also translates into a deeper understanding of Jews as a people and greater identification with Jews from communities around the world. Throughout this past week, all of our classes were engaged in deeper learning across the curriculum about Israel. Our teachers used big […]
