GMLS Student Artwork Selected for Young Art Exhibit By Victoria Polyak
Students in grades Kindergarten, 1st, 3rd and 5th grade have been selected to have their artwork in the San Diego Museum of Art’s 2019 Young Art Exhibit. Our students’ artwork was selected from hundreds of submissions by a distinguished jury and will be on display at the museum from March 30 – May 12.
Students created a collaborative piece of art which interpreted a butterfly according to the style of various 20th century artists: Jackson Pollock (kindergarten), Wassily Kandinsky (grade 1), Georgia O’Keefe (grade 3), and Pablo Picasso (grade 5). Art teacher Victoria Polyak taught students about the artistic style of the 20th century artist and students decided how to best incorporate that style into their own ceramic piece.
More information about the exhibit can be found here. Additional details about an opening reception will be sent as soon as it is available.
