Spotlight on Student Clubs

KOOV Club meets on Mondays with Mrs. Dolinka and Mrs. LaPlante.  KOOV, created by Sony, is the all-in-one coding, robotics, and design kit that combines digital coding with physical building to teach the next generation of problem-solvers and innovators. In this club, students collaborate in teams to build creations with the KOOV blocks. Then, they use the KOOV coding system to bring those creations to life through movement, lights, and sound.

TED Club meets every Friday with Mrs. Suto. Students are identifying a passion and choosing an idea to write for their TED talk for this year. They are researching, typing, talking and getting excited about sharing their passions. We are hard at work at developing a talk and we look forward to presenting them later this spring!

PE games are held every Monday and Tuesday at lunch time and are a great way to get more involved in sports! Capture the Flag is one of our most popular games at SDJA so Monday sessions are dedicated to that and then Tuesday is a ‘surprise’ game. If students come to Coach Pelletier with an idea of something they would like to play, then we try to make that happen.

Kindness Committee is sponsored by Morah Sharone, Mrs. Amy and Mrs Sarah and meets every Monday. Our student kindness leaders have been handing out ribbons for Mitzvah behavior during recess and lunch and playing Kindness Jenga, with a special visit from our middle school Chooz Kindness Club student leaders.

Next week – we will be sorting donated clothes and packing them to distribute to Mrs. Suto’s old school! Also starting in December, the Kindness Committee will be leading GMLS in our first No Place for Hate school-wide activity of the year, focused on respecting ourselves and others through exploring our unique identities. Look for our beautiful Kindness Tree featured on campus the week before Chanukah. Kindness matters!
