Emerging Technology Camp

 

San Diego Jewish Academy is proud to announce their inaugural Emerging Technology Camps for the summer of 2019. The Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurial Thinking (CIET) will host camps for 12 to 16 year old students, international and domestic, during the months of July and August at their campus in San Diego, California.

 

Camp Descriptions

Augmented Reality Experience Creation 

Session 1: Monday July 8, 2019 – Friday July 12, 2019
Session 2: Monday July 15, 2019 – July 19, 2019

Through partnerships with Augmented Reality (AR) industry professionals, students will learn the fundamentals of creating augmented reality content for social good. Students will learn the process of storytelling, 3D design, and coding to create AR apps focused on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Professionals and educational platforms will be introduced and used by students as they created their own AR apps.

 

Rapid Prototyping through Robotics/Mobile App Creation

Session 1: Monday July 15, 2019 – July 19, 2019
Session 2: Monday July 22, 2019 – Friday July 26, 2019

Through partnerships with Sony and Lightwell, students will use combine coding, design and physical computing skills to create solutions for climate change issues. Students will work in teams to design and build their solutions with Sony KOOV Robotics kits while simultaneously creating iPhone/iPad apps within Lightwell that explains how their solution will help to reduce climate change. The culmination of this camp will give students an opportunity to present their solution to Sony staff within their headquarters in San Diego.

Virtual Reality Game Creation 

Session 1: Monday July 22, 2019 – Friday July 26, 2019
Session 2: Monday July 29, 2019 – August 2, 2019

Through partnerships with HTC Vive and  and other Virtual Reality (VR) industry professionals, students will learn the fundamentals of creating virtual reality experiences for social good. Students will learn the process of storytelling, game design, and coding to create VR apps focused on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.  Professional and educational platforms will be introduced and used by the students to create VR apps.
