Field Trips, By Chaim Heller, Head of School

Chaim final constant contactOur high school students are away on field trips this week. Ninth graders will hike down –  and up – the Southern Rim of the Grand Canyon, then hike the Narrows at Zion National Park and hike the hoodoos at Bryce Canyon.

Our sophomores will visit some of the top universities in Southern California and meet with SDJA alumni from each one as they start to consider college plans. Our juniors will be in DC for the week, soaking in the rich history of our nation as they see and learn about the ideals and free institutions that have made our nation great.

Seniors will be using this week for their own college visits, as they prepare to choose between their alternatives going forward.

By traveling to another place, as a class, we add perspective and texture to what they learn in the classroom. Overwhelmingly, these tend to be among the very best experiences they have, as they learn about the places they visit, the friends who are with them and their own passions and interests.

We wish them all safe travels and much learning along the way.
