Building Character, Leadership, & Community

At San Diego Jewish Academy, athletics is a vital part of a well-rounded education developing not only strength and skill, but also character and leadership. From Middle School through High School, our student-athletes grow through competition, camaraderie, and commitment. They learn to lead with humility, persevere through challenges, and support their teammates with heart.

Grounded in Jewish values, we believe that every practice and game is an opportunity to build ethical, resilient individuals who are prepared to make a meaningful impact on and off the field.

Athletic Programs

Middle school sports at SDJA provide students with an exciting introduction to interscholastic athletics and marks a meaningful transition from the foundational skills taught in elementary PE to the deeper commitments of competitive athletics. As part of the South Coast Middle School League, a community of 15 independent schools in the San Diego area, our students compete in a variety of sports each season.

Each season includes a league schedule of approximately eight to ten games against local independent schools, offering students the opportunity to grow, compete, and represent our community with pride.

High school athletics at San Diego Jewish Academy is built on a foundation of opportunity, growth, and school pride. We offer a wide range of sports so that students of all skill levels and interests can contribute, compete, and represent our community with determination and integrity.

SDJA is a proud member of the Coastal Conference. The Coastal Conference’s mission is to foster a culture of excellence and sportsmanship among student-athletes within our member schools.

We believe in the importance of participation and balance. While some athletes choose to specialize, we encourage students to explore multiple sports and co-curricular opportunities during their time at SDJA. Being a well-rounded, committed teammate prepares our students for success both on and off the field.

Our facilities reflect SDJA’s commitment to excellence, providing student-athletes with the resources they need to compete, grow, and thrive.

Nate Solow

"Sports are a platform where students unlock strengths that they never realized they had- whether it’s resilience, leadership, or empathy. Our role at SDJA isn’t just to develop athletes, but to guide our students in discovering who they are and what they’re capable of beyond the game. Every practice, every challenge, is an opportunity to build character that will last a lifetime."
