Academy On Stage (AOS) showcases the students of the Academy who are interested in acting, singing, and dancing while teaching the very Jewish values that SDJA and our families attempt to instill in our students everyday.
Students participating in AOS start with the process of vocal auditions which includes vocal training, breathing control, speech enunciation, and diction for performance. From there, students master "getting over stage fright" by learning a song from our current production and singing in groups, then trios, duets and finally solos. Classes learn how to sing up to 4 part harmony.
Students are taught various theatrical skills including beginning and intermediate acting, dramatic characterization, blocking for the stage, working with microphones, props, costumes, make-up, lighting, sound, set design, video and special effects.
Dance is also an integral part of our program. Students learn a variety of dance styles including hip hop, Jazz, Tap, and Ballet. The choreography is challenging and all inclusive.
All students in Academy On Stage perform in the Spring Musical which takes place at theatre venues in San Diego.
