Welcome to Maimonides Upper School
San Diego Jewish Academy’s dual general and Judaic studies curriculum is designed to challenge students to reach their highest potential. With athletics, performing and fine arts program and a philosophy embracing our diverse Jewish community, our students have the freedom to grow and the inspiration to achieve.
Maimonides Upper School (Grades 6-12) is named for the twelfth-century physician Rabbi Moshe ben Maimon (Maimonides) whose passion as a Jew and a citizen of the world transcended the traditional boundaries that separated religious and secular learning. From science fair to football, from Hebrew to history, from poetry to calculus, San Diego Jewish Academy students are encouraged to find their passion and explore the world with enthusiasm and energy.
SDJA’s graduating classes have been accepted by some of the finest colleges and universities in the country. The 30 seniors from the class of 2006 received 73 acceptances to 64 colleges and universities in 17 states and 2 countries. Our students were offered over $1,000,000 in academic scholarships, and one student was selected as a finalist in the National Merit Scholarship Program. Letters of acceptance were received from Stanford University, New York University, University of California at Berkeley, University of California Los Angeles, Emory University, Brandeis University, University of Southern California, and University of California San Diego.
