Peter J. Chortek American Jewish Studies Endowment Fund - established in 2008 by Susan Chortek-Weisman, this gift honored her father and his passionate desire to teach students about the many diverse contributions made by Jews to American society. An integrated, multi-discipline, middle school curriculum was created and introduced to the sixth grade in 2009 and will continue to be built through 2011.

Liz and Isaac Calderon Jewish Studies Endowment Fund - established in 2008, with a lead gift from the Calderon family and additional gifts from the SDJA Legacy Sefer Torah Project, this fund provides students and community members the rare and privileged opportunity to create their own distinctive Jewish legacy by participating with Sofer (Scribe) Alberto Attia in creating a new Sefer Torah for the school which was completed in 2009.

Kornfeld Family Zikaron V'Tikvah/Hope and Remembrance Fund - established in 2006 by Martin Kornfeld and his son’s Rick and Gary, this fund is in memory of Phyllis Kornfeld, beloved wife, mother and grandmother. This gift supports the school’s nationally renowned Butterfly Project, which memorializes the 1.5 million children murdered in the Holocaust.

Shillman Foundation Distinguished Scholars Recognition Fund - established in 2006, this gift from the Shillman Foundation commends and encourages the pursuit of excellence in mathematics and science. SDJA students who are awarded first, second or third place in regional mathematics and science competitions and students who are designated National Merit Scholars, earn the Shillman Scholar designation and attend an annual reception in their honor at the estate of Dr. Bob and Mao Shillman.

Joseph Oppenheimer Endowment Fund for Tuition Assistance and Family Jewish Education – SDJA’s first endowment fund was established in 1999 by a gift from Joseph Oppenheimer to provide financial aid for students and to foster family-oriented Jewish education.

Science Fair Sweepstakes Award Given in Memory of Yehudit Sherman – Created by an anonymous donor to recognize outstanding Maimonides Upper School science students in memory of Yehudit Sherman and her passion for science.
