San Diego Jewish Academy
Capital Campaign
SDJA’s Capital Campaign funds facility expansion, maintenance and the reduction of long-term debt. By offering high quality facilities to our students and maintaining fiscal viability, this campaign helps ensure SDJA will be a fixture in San Diego for years to come.
2010 – 2011 SDJA Debt Elimination Campaign
As we embark on our 31st year of providing a remarkable Jewish education to over 2,000 children throughout San Diego, a wonderful opportunity has been made by a group of dedicated SDJA supporters to retire the remaining $10 million of mortgage debt held by Comerica Bank. The impact of retiring this debt will ensure that SDJA remains sustainable for generations to come.

Additionally, a successful campaign to retire this debt enables SDJA to redirect its annual operating budget allocation of nearly $500,000 from mortgage payments to educational program enhancements, such as providing students with special needs a Jewish education, which is not currently possible. These enhancements would also provide specialized instructional opportunities and educators for the most advanced students as well as those who are struggling. Redirection of funds would also provide additional tuition assistance, allowing our school to offer a Jewish education to as many students as possible.

A group of past major donors have committed to raise a matching $5 million from those who helped build our campus if new donors pledge an equal $5 million toward retiring our debt. We have worked hard to obtain commitments totaling $2.2 million thus far and are steadfast in our efforts to raise the remaining $2.8 million and take full advantage of this incredible offer and retire SDJA’s debt completely.

We are reaching out to you, our passionate stakeholders, and ask you to join us in our ambitious quest to secure new commitments towards our remaining $2.8 million by March of 2011. We hope you will join us in our effort to retire SDJA’s mortgage debt and ensure that another 2,000 students will receive a Jewish education over the next 30 years.

Thank you for all of your past support and passion towards SDJA.

Sincerely,

Simon Vanier Roberto Jinich Larry Acheatel
Board Legacy Chair President, Board of Trustees Executive Director
