To the unmistakable strains of the Wayne Foster Orchestra, the Hilton La Jolla Torrey Pines was the site of San Diego Jewish Academy’s 2006 Annual Dinner, which this year honored the members of the faculty. Under the co-chairmanship of Karen and Jaime Breziner, Theresa Dupuis and Gary Kornfeld, and Carol and Rick Kornfeld, and Honorary Co-chairs Harold and Shirley Pidgeon, “Lighting the Way” was by far the school’s most successful gala ever.
“It was a real pleasure to honor our wonderful teachers, who are the backbone of our school,” explained SDJA Executive Director Larry Acheatel. “The tribute video, chaired by Sore Gordon and Ana Gaistman, expressed the genuine gratitude and admiration of all the parents and friends of SDJA for these individuals who truly give their all for our students each and every day. The dinner also helped bring the total for our Every Child Campaign to a record-breaking $696,000, helping to sustain educational excellence throughout SDJA, as well as support our all-important Tuition Assistance program.”
Highlighting the evening were the exciting silent and live auctions, chaired by Jessica Koren, which featured incredible prizes including a luxury South Africa trip and a classic Jaguar. The auctions raised an unprecedented $140,000 for the Every Child Campaign, as well as $55,000 for professional development.
