Preparation, By Chaim Heller, Head of School
Only a few hours remain until Rosh Hashanah. If you haven’t had the opportunity to prepare for the High Holidays, the time to start is now. Preparation – whether for children, parents or teachers – even if under a tight timeline, is essential for success in anything.
Imagine yourself walking into the reception room of a big corporation.
“Can I help you?” says the receptionist.
“Uh, I guess so,” you answer, yawning and staring out the window.
The receptionist looks quizzically at you. “Well, why are you here?”
“I’m not exactly sure.”
“Are you here to meet someone, perhaps?”
“Yes, I think that’s it.”
“Okay, do you know who you are supposed to meet?”
You look at her feeling more than a little awkward. “No, I didn’t bring the name or anything.”
“Well then, perhaps you can come back when you’re prepared.”
We have been hard at work preparing your children for this corridor that takes us into 5777, the High Holidays. May you and your children together find meaning and purpose in this year’s Rosh Hashanah.
