Hartman, By Chaim Heller, Head of School
One of the highlights of my career as a learner took place this summer when I was privileged to attend the Shalom Hartman Institute program in Jerusalem. From morning until evening, we studied traditional and modern texts, learned about practical applications of those texts, and came away with a true feeling of Kedusha, holiness. Not all the texts were religiously inspired, and in effect the overall atmosphere was of friends studying and learning together, rather than a Yeshiva. It was incredible.
SDJA is very excited to bring the Shalom Hartman Institute to teach a course here at school! The Hartman Institute is a world leader in Israel education (more info here). We are offering the course, which will take place once per month on Sunday mornings, as honors credit for all high school students who participate in the seminar. We are opening it up to all adults in our community as well. Join me, and teachers of SDJA and our high school students in 7 sessions, all held on Sunday mornings from 9 to noon, with breakfast.
This is an incredible opportunity. I urge you to take advantage of it and enter the world of the Hartman Institute. If you are interested in more details, or to sign up, just click here.
