After you have visited our school and wish to apply, you will need to...
- Submit an application with a non-refundable application fee of $100
- Preschool Admission Application
- Kindergarten Admission Application
- Golda Meir Lower School Admission Application
- Maimonides Upper School Admission Application
- Submit the Confidential School Information Form to your child's current teacher(s) and administrator.
- Have your child's school send us his/her transcript and copies of standardized test results (for grades 1-12 only)

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) about SDJA
What is a pluralistic day school?
A pluralistic day school is not affiliated with any one stream of Judaism nor is it affiliated with any synagogue. Students attending SDJA represent secular, reform, reconstructionist, conservative and modern orthodox families.
Is SDJA accredited?
SDJA is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges, the California Association of Independent Schools, and the National Association of Independent Schools.
How is SDJA different from other excellent private schools?
SDJA is exceptionally strong academically and offers both a secular and Judaic curriculum. Students at SDJA graduate with more credits than students at most other private schools due to the dual curriculum. SDJA offers a values-based education that strives to address the challenges of contemporary life.
What percentage of the day is devoted to Hebrew and Judaics?
In the Golda Meir Lower School, students spend one third of the day studying Judaica and Hebrew. In the Maimonides Upper School, one fifth of the day is devoted to Judaic Studies.
Does SDJA offer tuition assistance?
Because the affordability of a Jewish day school education is a concern to many Jewish families, SDJA has developed a comprehensive tuition assistance plan. The primary goal of the program is to make a Jewish day school education available to as many students as possible. The aid is awarded solely upon the basis of need and only if the applicant follows the guidelines and timelines established.
How do students travel to the campus?
Students travel to SDJA by parent transport, carpools, or school bus. SDJA provides bus transportation from various locations throughout San Diego County.
Where is SDJA located?
The school is located in Carmel Valley, a northern suburb of San Diego, off the 56 freeway.
Does SDJA offer leadership, sports, music and art programs?
SDJA offers a full complement of extra curricular programs and activities. Student government provides a forum for students to exercise leadership skills. There is an extensive sports program as well as music, art and drama.
Will SDJA graduates be well prepared for the best universities?
SDJA had its first graduating class in 2003. They were highly successful being admitted to the country’s finest universities. The success has continued each year due, in part, to the well-rounded program, the rigor and challenge of a dual curriculum, and to the emphasis on critical thinking.
