Student Newspaper - SDJA Lions' Den
In this class, students learn about the intricacies of publishing a monthly newsletter. They manage technical difficulties, editing, layout and deal with printers. The class is taught so students are able to be self-reliant and truly get a "real newspaper experience."
Students collaborate to identify content and structure of each edition of "The Roar."
Professional design software is used to layout each issue.

The Lions' Den is now in its fourth year and was started by students and a faculty advisor. Instructors provide minimal direction on layout, journalistic style and content.
The student newspaper class meets during fifth period study hall and is an elective class. To earn their grade, students must have an article in every issue. The students are responsible for all aspects of production, from deciding what to cover to writing, editing, layout and delivery.
The paper is published monthly and includes eight pages of content. The student newspaper is open to all upper school students.
