AP Courses
Advanced placement classes are a significant part of our upper school curriculum. The dedication to advanced placement courses stems from SDJA’s belief that students should have the ability to challenge themselves beyond the traditional curriculum.
SDJA's upper school faculty members are very experienced in their given fields and over half have obtained post-graduate degrees.
Students are offered 18 different AP courses that are designed to challenge them academically.
SDJA offers 19 diverse advanced placement courses that follow the College Board standardized curricula, which are weighted by one grade point. For instance, an "A" counts as five grade points instead of four grade points, a "B" counts as four grade points instead of three grade points and so on.
SDJA students traditionally do very well in AP courses. In 2011, 69 SDJA students in grades 10 through 12 wrote 124 AP exams. They performed exceptionally well - 79% scored 3 or higher, while 53% scored 4 or higher.
