Join the Jr. JCC Maccabi Youth Club of San Diego For Kids Grades K-6.

Designed for kids to meet new friends and future teammates of the JCC Maccabi Games, be part of this is year-round youth club that meets once a month for fun social and athletic programs.
Club membership includes:

  • Participation in the JCC Maccabi Games opening ceremony on August 3, 2008 at Cox Arena.
  • Savings of over 15% on admission to all age appropriate events for the entire year, excluding the Junior Maccabi Games.

Kehillat Ahavat Yisrael Talmud Study with Rav Menashe

This ongoing class, sponsored by KAY, will focus on key Jewish messages and values that are transmitted through the Oral Torah. This interactive class will highlight textual analysis and discourse. Men and women of all backgrounds are welcome.

JCC Maccabi Games Opening Ceremonies Audition Notice

Attention all Performers, Ages 6 - 18!

The JCC Maccabi Games are coming to San Diego this August! We need singers, dancers, and gymnasts to perform in a medley of beach songs, as part of the spectacular Opening Ceremonies for the Games. Don’t miss this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to learn new skills, make new friends, and perform for 8,000 people!

Rehearsals: Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays, July 7 – Jul. 31, 4pm - 6:30pm at La Jolla Country Day School

Performance: Sunday August 3rd, Cox Arena, San Diego State University

Please make sure you will be available for these dates before you audition!

Dancers/Gymnasts:
Dates: Monday May 12, 4pm OR Wednesday May 14, 6pm. Ages: 6 -18, boys and girls

Skills: No formal dance training required. Basic knowledge of steps and rhythm
are a plus. Gymnasts - be prepared to show your skills. Please come in
comfortable clothes and shoes. No flip flops or open-toed shoes allowed.
You will not need to sing.

Singers:
Dates: Monday May 12, 5pm OR Wednesday May 14, 7pm. Ages: 15 -18, boys and girls

Music: Please bring sheet music in the correct key. Accompanist will be provided. Please bring a headshot/resume if available.

Note: All singers MUST also attend one of the dance calls.
If cast, you may be asked to provide (nominally priced) costume and shoes.

Walk The Land for Israel

Kick off the Yom Ha atzmaut Independence Day Festival with a one-mile walk in support of Israel! Join local San Diegans as you pass by beautiful murals of Israeli cities in this first-time-ever global event! Each participant will receive a unique Israeli “passport” to be stamped along the path.

The General Walk begins at 11:00 a.m. and an alternative Youth Walk begins at 2:00 p.m. departing from the JCC’s baseball diamond. Register in advance:$5/person includes an official hat, water and original passport. Proceeds benefit the building of a new safe Regional High School in Sha ar Ha Negev, San Diego’s partnership region in Israel.

Gateways Summer School

GATEWAYS Summer School is a non-profit, community-based organization. It was formed in 1982 by parents, in order to provide unique educational experiences for students during the summer. Parents are responsible for administration and organization of the program. Our income comes from tuition and is used for teacher salaries, room rental, equipment and supplies.

GATEWAYS Summer School offers fast-paced, intense enriching experiences for identified gifted and high-achieving children who are entering grades 1 through 12 in the fall. Course content does not include basic skills. Courses are designed for students who have mastered the basics and are interested in learning new concepts. Test results are not required for admission to GATEWAYS. However, in placing their children, parents are urged to note that all GATEWAYS classes are intended to challenge students who are typically achieving above grade level.

The JCC Maccabi Games Come to San Diego

The JCC Maccabi Games are coming to San Diego next summer, August 3-8, 2008. This Olympic-style event provides a unique combination of sports, cultural and social activities and will be the largest Jewish event in San Diego's history. The JCC Maccabi Games offer a transforming and powerful experience to Jewish teens by integrating sports with Jewish identity and values. The Games will welcome over 1,500 Jewish teen athletes, their families and friends, more than 1,000 volunteers and 650 host families.
